FFView Editor's Review

FFView is an Open Source image viewer which is alike ACDSee 2.x.

This program is fast and stable. It has an OpenGL engine that does all the rendering stuff.

The image quality of this viewer is great for a free tool. Because the engine has built-in the support for antialiasing, the images are smooth and they look very good.

The application comes with features like pre-fetching, smooth panning, voice commands, 2-page mode, magnifying lens, and another feature that is very useful, the ability to browse inside archives. The supported archive formats are rar, cbr, zip and pdf.

The producer didn't forget to mention the fact that this program features sticky-per-picture options. Other things that this program supports are the EXIF tags. It also has the support for Apple Scripts.

The application works with an 'Image List' window where you can load all the files that you would like to view. When you view an image, you can use some basic image manipulation functions.

Pluses: It is a nice and free tool that you can use in order to view your picture collection. It has an interesting feature: view the images from an archive.

Drawbacks / flaws: working with the 'Image List' might be a little unhandy for starters.

In conclusion: a pretty good image viewer that won't cost you anything. The source code of the program is available.
